Information technology (IT) is the application of computers and telecommunications 

equipment to store, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data, often in the context of a 

business or other enterprise. Several industries are associated with information 

technology, such as computer hardware, software, electronics, semiconductors, internet, 

telecom equipment, e-commerce and computer services. 

About Course

Information Technology is an engineering division, which concentrates on the study of utilizing 

computers and telecommunications in order to control, gather, store and circulate information. Both 

software and hardware sectors are parts of Information Technology. Due to the importance and 

reputation of IT, the present age is sometimes referred to as information technology age. IT represents 

a vast category of career options that are based on processing, designing, developing, managing or 

supporting computer and web-based technologies and devices that constitute an IT network. The 

modern world is entirely IT dependent with Information Technology applications present in nearly every

aspect of our lives. This translates into a wide variety of career opportunities in this field, both for fresh 

and experienced IT professionals.

Further Education

 IT programs are offered at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Graduates can opt for 

M.Tech/ MS in various specializations in any of the core subjects mentioned above.
